Good day everyone, I am attempting to set up call forwarding on an extension of an employee who works out off office now. However when it is set up the call isn't being directed out to cell phone.

I have tried using the forward unconditional button on the phone as well as setting it up using manager.
The way I would like it to flow is, the call comes in on a sip trunk goes through auto attendant and once directed to that extension forwards to the external number using another channel on the sio trunk.

The call however still rings the extension and isn't being transferred out. When I check the system status it just shows the call coming in and directed to the extension and nothing going out.

If it is set up to forward to another extension tho it works fine.

Does anyone on the system successfully transfer/forward external calls back out to external numbers? Trunk to trunk transfer is not allowed by default. Its controlled by the System | Telephony | Inhibit Off-Switch Forward/Transfer setting.

There are other settings but thats the main one. Of that is disabled and it still doesn't work then we would need to know more about the different types of trunks involved.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

No calls are able to be transferred out. I attempted to do the same with other extensions. Yes the Inhibit Off-Switch Forward/Transfer is disabled. It was able to work on analog lines previously. However client has now switched to SIP trunks entirely. So the aim is to use the channels of the sip trunk to send the calls back out to the external number.

Well there is a "Inhibit Off-Switch Forward Transfer" setting on every user (User | Telephony | Sypervisor Settings) though its not normally on by default.

There are also some SIP line settings for "Redirect and Transfer". Usually just left as auto but may need so adjust. Also in the SIP Line URI settings the default setting for forward/transferred calls is to send the original callers details. Your ISP maybe doesn't like that so try setting it to Caller.

Otherwise, manually transfer an external call and watch what happens in System Status and/or System Monitor. Need to work out the point at which the redirect is failing.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Run a SIP trace with Monitor (Just the SIP call information) and see what you have on the call. You can colour code the options by right clicking which helps a lot so you can see easier what is sent and what is received.

Sometimes provider block the forwarded calls because the caller ID is not up to their requirements and you can see what caller ID you actually are sending for the call.

@sizbut. turns out the issue was indeed the URI setting for the forward calls. Thanks much guys for the help
