I'm running an exchange backup on a Compaq server using a DLT 40/80. The job is approximately 45 GBs. However, the job will prompt for new media at around 41GB, then will finish the remainder of the job.

I can find no patches on the CA/Compaq site to fix this problem. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Your tape is most probably full. When you insert the next media, it probably formats it and continues (these are settings that are configurable in ArcServe).

Remember that DLT 40/80 means that it can write 80Gigs of uncompressed data or 40Gigs of compressed data. If your backing up data that is already compressed (like ZIP files) then you won't get much more than 40Gigs because the hardware compression on the DLT can't squeeze much more compression out of an already compressed file.

Check the ArcServe logs and see if it says "Tape is full" on the job.

Thanks...I'm hardware compression and will turn it off and see what happens.
