I currently faxing about 30 pages per night one at a time from an Access report. The problem is the User wants to maintain the heading (that displays their logo).

I read in MS Knowledgebase that the sendObject command will not send headers/footers or anything not in a text box.

We are currently using MS FAX. I am not sure if it would benefit us to get WINFAX 10.0.

Does anyone have ANY ideas?

Thanx so much,
Trudye

How about saving as a PDF file and sending that?

Thanx PaulF for responding. I looked at Access and saving a report in PDF format doesn't seem to be an option. Formats like xls, html, snp, csv, asc etc. are options.

The only way I was able to have access to these other formats was to try and export the report. Save As gave me no options.

Unless I missed something which is highly likely.

Thanx again

There's a utility out on the Web called CutePDF that allows you to print to a PDF file without having the full version of Adobe Acrobat. Doesn't support WinNT 4.0 or Windows 95.

Thanx PaulF. I'll try it when I get to work and let you know what happends.

Be well,

Hi Paul I contacted CutePDF and here is what happened:

My Initial email:
Date: 8/10/2004 6:37:00 PM

Name: Trudye
Products: CutePDF 3.0
OS: Windows 2000
Serial Number: Try

I want to fax reports from MS Access to my client.
Unfortunately MS Access does not allow for report
hdrs/footers when faxing using the SendObject method.
Which is the only available command for faxing.

Will CutePDF 3.0 be able to solve my problem?

Thank you,
Trudye

There Response:
We don't know about faxing.
You may try the free evaluation of CutePDF 3.0 with it.

Soooo I decided to go straight to the source. I called Microsoft qne after haggling with them over cost. They said they would get back to me via email on any information they came up with.
But I'm not holding out any hope.

Thanx again for responding,

My response was for a way to export your report without losing your formatting... getting it faxed was another step, one that I'm not sure how to do, but "assume" it can be done fairly easily. CutePDF is just for sending the report to a file in PDF format. Sorry if I've mislead you.

Not a problem. I should have explained the entire problem. I did find out that it is an arduous task to fax using MS Fax and maintain the header/footer. I am waiting on my new copy of WinFax to see if it's any easier.

It seems exporting the Report in snapshot format maintains the header/footer. But that limits what you can do. For instance I need to break the report into Districts and fax to each district.

I am now in the process of exporting it to Word where I have a mail merge letter setup. Which means the fields are defined. Not sure if this will work but I'll post it if it does. I also wrote Microsoft and suggested they address this problem.

Thanks so much for even responding and getting involved.
