unable to enter setup by pressing F2

hi,
i m trying to enter setup by pressing F2,but i m unable to do so.i m using windows me. in my system.few weeks back i had set password to enter setup.
now when i m trying to enter setup,it asks for the password but after i enter it,windows me gets started,instead of entering set up.
i want to put supervisor password to prevent misuse of my computer.if somebody could help me it would just be great.
please help.

This sounds more like a bios problem in your computer. It may require you to kill the password protection by resetting defaults. Ususally you can pull the battery to force it back to factory fresh , but if you are not familiar with the procedure or are uncomfortable with working inside the box, let a professional do it.
There may have been two passwords, one for setup, and one for user. The manual may be some help with this. Ed Fair

thanks a lot edfair.i tried taking out the battery from the computer and then i tried and i was able to enter setup.
