Hello,
OS: AIX 5.3 TL 7
I am trying to download TL9 files from download2.boulder.ibm.com using ftp but keep on getting the following error;
"can't find list of remote files, oops".
Download works fine from another server which is also on same TL.
I am able to ping external sites, nslookup is working fine. Any suggestion why its happening and what can be the fix ?

no problem,
if in a directory, on the ftp server in your case,
the x flag (execute meaning for normal files)
stays for "list" the files. Probably the dir in which
the file is located has flags as:
drwxr-xr--
So the others (the 3rd rwx), can only read files (copy),
but cannot list them: you have to know the exact name
before init the copy (ftp in your case).

ciao
vittorio

Directory permissions are correct because I can download same files from another server.
Thats what happens;

Don't you have to cd to the directory that they have the files in cd /ecc/hsb/xxxxx. This should be found on your request.

thanks for mentioning that. You are right and I have done that too. But it still didn't help.

Spooky, I get the same and ls lists no files, which I suspect is why mget is failing because it needs to list the files for download.

If you turn prompt back on you'll see there is nothing to download.

But if you use a ftp capable browser (ie5 in my case) it can list the files.

ftp://anonymous@download2.boulder.ibm.com/

How odd!
