Unable to delete in outlook .

When trying to delete in outlook98 or 2000 the window comes up as if it is deleting (i.e the trash can being filled with trash)But nothing happens you can't cancel and the files aren't being deleted and it doesn't matter if you have 2 emails or 40 emails. The only way to stop it is by hitting ctrl + alt + Delete.

Please help it's happening all over the agency and i want to no why?

Maybe a corrupt inbox. you can try deleting inbox.idx inbox.mbx and inbox.dbx to see if that will help. I would try emptying your whole inbox though if possible before doing it. If you cant I would just go ahead and delete those files.
