I have a client who cannot delete any of his e-mail messages. (I have not seen the PC)
Does any one have any ideas?

Hi Jim,

It's really not enough information to go on. What e-mail client is he using? What has he tried and failed with (toolbar icon, menu option, the del key)? etc., etc.

Enjoy,
Tony

Where does the outlook inbox folder reside where he is trying to delete mail? local HD, or a remote exchage server?

The thread title says the client is using Outlook.
Can't delet with the delete key or icon, can't empty Deleted items folder under Tools menu.
Exchange is nor in the picture, everything is local.

Oops [blush]
Should have read the title shouldn't I? Sorry.

Are the options not present, or greyed out, or just don't work?

Enjoy,
Tony

might want to try to clean the .pst file using the "SCANPST.EXE" tool located in...

C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033

This is the default location. If it is not there you can do a search for it.

The options are there, they just don't work.

I'll see the PC tommorrow morning and try SCANPST then. This user needs things done for him!

Thanks for the input!!!!!

FYI, the SCANPST can take a while to run... If I remember correctly it does about 8 passes through the .pst file to check and correct. Might want to do it at lunch or end of the day as this will keep them out of e-mail.

SCANPST didn't do it. We bit the bullet and deletd the entire pst file.

If you still have the old .PST file and the client needs the old e-mail, you might want to try importing it into the new one. I have had this happen before and importing it into a new .PST file worked allowing to delete unwanted e-mail.
