I've created a small offline cube in Excel 2003 from SSAS 2005. After this I wanted to open it in a new sheet, so I started to declare a connection the way:pivot tables -> get external data...
I've created a new OLAP Cube data source, named it, choose OLEDB9.0 and then choose the OLAP cube file.
MS Query opened and did something, but the list for choosing the cube name is empty so I couldn't choose the name of the cube.
Knows anybody what's wrong?
Would appreciate any idea.

To long ago for me to remember exact details.
I remember an issue with local cubes not being found when you move them to another folder on your harddrive..

Thanks for the respond, but I didn't move the cube file. It's still there where I exported it.

When you create a connection, Excel will store information in a .qry file. Normally you will not ever want to know about this, but you can check the parameters in it..

I have a similar issue too - I'm trying to open the local cube with ProClarity 6.3, but it almost looks like the cube is 'empty'.

My collegue doesn't have the same issue, but he's running MS Office 2007. Hope this isn't the issue.

The question should be [red]Is it worth trying to do?[/red] not [blue] Can it be done?[/blue]
