Hello Experts

I am unable to create new users on my AIX box.
OS Version - 5200-02

Getting error--
Giving below error while creating user thro. smit .

3004-690 No default group.
3004-703 Check "/usr/lib/security/mkuser.default" file.

Ouput of usrck command
# usrck -n ALL
3001-639 The file /etc/security/limits does not exist.

Checked with /etc/passwd,/etc/group,/etc/security/passwd,/etc/security/group,
/etc/security/limits,/etc/security/login.cfg &

/usr/lib/security/mkuser.default.

Tried to update user database thro. mkpasswd .

But no luck ,I am on top the gun.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Andy

Do you have an /etc/security/group file? If so, are you trying to put the users into a group that isn't in this file?

Can you post the exact command you're trying to run? If you're using SMIT, you can see the command to be executed by pressing F6 (or ESC-6 on some terminals) after you've filled in all the fields. You can also find the commands that have already been attempted in the proper ~/smit.script file.

Hi

Thanks for the immediate reply.
Actually I am trying smit mkuser as well as useradd commands.

I have /etc/security/group file & with all required groups
in it.

Thanks
Andy

Sorry, I wasn't clear. Can you post the exact command line, including arguments?

The contents of /usr/lib/security/mkuser.default could be helpful, too.

You may not be running as root / or /etc/security/mkuser.defaults file & /etc/security/limits file do not exist.
