Unable to create new VM

I have just replaced the HDD in my xp pc which was running unix services for windows for a larger 400GB one. I reinstalled usfw and reconfigured NFS, I added the new datastore via VIC and it mounted ok.

Now when I try to create a new machine i get a general error and it fails. I was able to create a VM on the old HDD and nothing has changed in ESX.

At a loss now???
