Hi Folks,

I've just spent the last few hours in total frustration with one of my remote office PC's.

Windows 2000/SP4 PC, PII 350, 128mb ram
RTL8029 NIC

Unable to connect direct or via a hub to a WET11 bridge. Not even able to ping the bridge.

Ive installed new NIC drivers, had a look in the device settings to ensure it was running at half duplex for the hub etc.

If I plug the NIC directly into a network it works fine.

I have a printer also hanging off the hub and it can connect to the network via the wet11 no probs.

I've tried a couple of hubs, multiple patch leads etc. no good.

I'm lost. any clues would be appreciated.

CHeers,

Pete

What does an ipconfig /all say on the machine?

it usually hangs for a while then either comes up with all 0.0.0.0, or a 169.x APIPA address.

If I set an IP address, it still does not allow a connection.

the bridge - 192.168.1.36, static IP of the PC .81

with the static, I am unable to ping the bridge or anything past it.

If I hook up the old network (which still connects to the network), I can ping the wet11 .36

cheers,

Pete
