I have a server which can see other systems on the network but does not allow ther systems to see it. I am able to ping the systems ip address but not map to it. I have checked the ip address, workgroup & system name which all match............ Help!!

I have removed the netcfg & re-installed but to no avail.

Hmm - could be something netbios name related...
If you use WINS, make sure your WINS address is pointing to the right server, if not, check your LMHOSTS file is right.

Are the clients NT....????

Can you ping the server by IP Address and Name...????

Does the server appear on Server Manager on other servers...????

Server Manager has the system listed but it is greyed out.

Final outcome is that this must have been a precursor to disk failure as the system disk in inaccessable, bootdisk failure ............... poo!

remove the server from the domain, rename it,
name it back, and move it back into the domain I have not failed, I just found 10000 ways that don't work
