I recently received a new laptop. It is a Dell Lattitude with a Conexant HDA D330 MDC V.92 installed, running Windows XP.

When I use NRU 11.0 to try and connect to any of the RADS that we have installed out in the field, the modem will not complete the handshake and after a period of time, the applications errors out with a "No Answer" dialogue.

I am trying to work with my local IT dept but they are out of ideas because the modem seems to work with everything else except this application.

My old laptop is still able to connect and I have at least been able to use that as leverage to keep them interested in getting the issue resolved on the new laptop. (if it works on this one, then its not the PBX equipment)

Does anybody know if there is a different initialization string that we need to change? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Odds are your running 64 bit on your new system NRU don't like to play with that. You may want to install virtual pc and run it at 32 bit

Just double checked with IT, my new XP machine is 32 bit, not 64. Also, checked the init string on both laptops (the one that works and the one that doesn't) and they string is identicle on both. I have tried connecting at a lower speed, but still the handshake won't complete.

If I turn up the speakers, you can hear the RAD answer adn TRY to negotiate, but it never happens.

The onyl difference i can see if the modem are differnt, one is a D330 and the other is a D480. The D480 works and the D330 doesn't.

Hawks - you were onto the answer. IT installed Win7 in 32-bit mode and got the modem working with the RAD's

It is strange that I couldn't get the mode to work on the XP OS, but I am happy that I it is working on Win 7.

That could be it. I know that my IT guys tried EVERYTHING to get this to work. Last hope was to install Win 7 32 bit. And lo and behold, NRU worked and I could dial into all of my beloved Norstars again.

In fact, BCM Element Manager also works on Win 7 with the 32 Bit OS. Hope this helps save somebody else the pain that we have felt trying to get this work.
