HellO:

I recently set up an intranet using Windows SharePoint Services on a Windows Server 2003 box. Everything was going smoothly but I realized that installing WSPS using the default setting, installing SharePoint including the database on the C: drive of my server, was going to be a problem. C drive is small. To make the most of SharePoint it needs to be on my D drive where I have room for it to grow.

So I followed the Microsoft paper on how to move the databases to another drive, "
I backed up my databases. I followed the directions explicitly, stopping and restarting required services, and moving the databases as the MS article explained.

After I got to the end of the description, with my webserver restarted, I could connect to the SharePoint configuration web pages, but when I try and connect with the actual default.aspx page, with the content, I recieve
"Unable to connect to database. Check database connection information and make sure the database server is running. For tips on troubleshooting this error, search for article 823287 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base at
Well, I thought maybe I had some permission error. So I stopped everything, detached the databases, and reattached to the original databases on the c drive.

No go. same error. Ugh.

Any tips out there?

Thanks, Jeepsta

try using an alternative backup program. Avepoint has a program DocAve which stores info to a local network drive...and it doesnt interfere with sP cause it stores on its own tables.
