Hi

I hope somebody can help me.
I have Windows XP professional installed on my machine.
I cannot change my Internet Explorer home page.
When I go through tools/options and set my home page to say ntlworld.com it will hold the setting until I reboot my pc, when it always reverts to hot-searches.com
I have tried altering the registry settings but this also reverts back to hot-searches.com after a reboot as well.

Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved.

regards

This problem could come from several places:

. Did you use SpyBot's Immunize features? In any case:

Start, Run, regedit
Go to the value:
Hkey_Current_User\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel

Under control panel you should see (thanks to SpyBot) a value named "HomePage" w/o the quotes with a value of 1. change the value 1 to 0 to unlock your internet homepage address.

. Check Group Policies:
Start, Run, gpedit.msc

/User Configuration/Administrative Template/Windows Components/Internet Explorer
Modify "Disable changing home page settings" to Not Configured.

. Several other possiblities:
. Malware can do this. Do the steps discussed in faq608-4650

Thanks Linney that has done the trick.
