Hi,
I am trying to browse using IE 6.0 to a server on my local network by using the servername rather than the IP address, but I keep getting forwarded to the commandname website.
I have added the entry
w.x.y.z   servername
to my Hosts file and can ping it successfully in DOS.  Also, if I try browsing to the servername in Opera I can get to the server fine, but the app is written esp for IE so I cannot use Opera.  I just tried it as a troubleshooting step.
I have checked the setting in IE and checked the bypass proxy for local servers and if I browse using the IP address, I reach the server ok.
So, this problem seems to be something to do with local DNS resolution in IE.
Can anyone assist??
Thanks
