I apologise in advance if some of this is basics but as all small business' I am trying to multi-hat and dont have enough expertise or money to get someone in to sort this out for me. Any assistance would be greatfully appreciated.

I am running SBS2K. Router Netgear - DG834GT ADSL WIRELESS I can connect wirelessly to the router and am allocated IP address but am unable to logon/browse my network.

I have standard SBS setup with one multi-homed server.

Router on 192.168.0.1
Nic 1 192.168.0.4 (external ADSL)
Nic 2 10.0.0.2 (internal Lan)

LAN IP 10.0.0.0 - 10.0.0.254

As recommended by MS

Wirless clients allocated IP address from 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.22 by router and I do not seem able to change this.

I am thinking as LAN is 10.0.0.* then this is why we are having problems seeing the network or am I barking up the wrong tree.

I can VPN in no trouble and other services exchange/internet
work fine.

Many Thanks for any assistance

Your wireless clients do not know where the 10.0.0.0 subnet is located. You need to add a static route in one of two places: ADSL Router or on each wireless client.

If you want to test this theory, try:
Code:
route add 10.0.0.0 mask 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.4
on one of the wireless clients. I suspect that you will be able to browse then.

If so, the better way to accomplish this is to add the route to the ADSL router, either in its routing table, or in its DHCP configuration.

If you decide to do this on each of the wireless clients, then you will need to remember to use the "/p" switch with the route command to ensure that the static route is permanent.

Thanks pansophic for your assistance. Sorry for delay but very busy week. I have given your suggestions a try but have not had any joy but maybe I am not entering the info correctly.

I have a window for entering Static Routes on my Router.
It requires
Destination IP
Subnet Mask
Gateway IP

The destination I presume is the 10.0.0.2 (being my internal Lan server IP)
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway... would that be 192.168.0.4 (ADSL NIC)

I have tried the above config without any joy in fact it has caused other problems with accessing internet.

Should gateway be one of these instead: 192.168.0.1 (ROUTER) 192.168.0.2 (Wireless client)

or have I got it back to front.

The DHCP Configuration on the Router will only allow me to input a 192.168.*.* ip address range and not a 10.0.0.* range. I can only presume this is because the routers range is on 192.*.*.* Do I need to find a way to change this if possible.

Also I tried entering the route add info on my wireless client through the command prompt and although it accepted it, it did not make any difference.

I do get a DNS Error when I use Network ID Wizard on wireless clients. Would that point us to a problem anywhere.

I have probably misunderstood your instructions, so feel free to get exasperated.

Actually, your destination IP should be 10.0.0.0. Everything else looks great. Some systems will not allow you to define a route to a network that is not the network address (10.0.0.2 is a host address, 10.0.0.0 is the network address).

Sorry about the lengthy delay in my response. I hope that someone elsewhere has helped you out already.
