Unable to Browse on Mozilla . .

Hi all,

I am using a router which runs its own DHCP service and asigns me an IP, I configured FC5 for network . . . every thing works fine . . . i can ping, access FTP etc... but cannot browse pages on Mozilla Firefox, or access mails from evolution.

can you help me solve the problem.

I checked the setting in mozilla, its set to
"Direct connection to Internet

Hi daver,

I don't think, i am using any proxy . . . its direct Ethernet connection.

and firewall... Not sure, but in case there is any firewall it should have blocked my ftp access even before ...

because they would have been configured to allow browsers.

I am not sure what to do . . .

I can only speculate, having seen your image snapshot, that you don't have enough or any DNS services available.

Your picture only shows 192.168.1.1 as available for DNS.

You didn't mention to which hosts you connected to determine that ping and FTP work, or whether you connected by IP or hostname.

You should make a point to define your DHCP source with an external DNS resolver to assist in finding

DNS-problem I would guess.

1 way to check (at the command prompt) type:

ping www.gm.com

if DNS is OK this should work, or

2 type

213.155.151.158

in mozilla, if you get to GM's page with that but not with

http://www.gm.com,

then DNS do'nt work.
Check your router or better add a second DNS-server to your config.
