Unable to browse for printers

We are no longer able to browse for printers. It just quit with no warning and no entries in any of the event logs.

You can see the printers by using the UNC for the server that houses them, and you can install them by double clicking them from windows explorer but the add printers -> browse feature does not work.

Ideas?
 
Group policy perhaps preventing browsing for printers?

Go to your printer server go to the properties of a printer - Sharing Tab - and ensure List in Directory s ticked.

No group policy changes were made that am aware of. One day they were there, the next they were gone. I am talking domain wide, a couple hundred printers, gone from the browser.

I think a call to M$ might be in line.
