Hello Everyone,

In Win2KSP4/XPSP2 Pro, we aren't able to browse the domain. This is a new setup so it can be something basic. We have a DFS share, DNS(PCs have the DNS configured), no WINS. We are able to go into the run command and bring up the shares or map a drive to the share but we cannot go through "My Network Places" and see the shares. Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Win2k3 Standard Server
DNS
Mapped Drive works.
We can see the shares when use the "run" if we put the .com at the end(\\servername.com) but without it(\\servername), it does not work.
Cannot browse in "My Network Places"

Thanks Everyone!

Make sure that the "browser" service is started on all systems. (It should be by default). In the IP configuration, on the WINS tab, make sure that NetBIOS is set to "Enabled".

If you're running XP SP-2, there may be issues with the firewall feature. Try disabling it.

Try adding the dns suffix for the domain you want to browse in the DNS tab of the tcp/ip settings. (on the clients)
