Unable to Begin Database Backup

Arcserve 6.61 SP2a. EC= -1. (That's right, -1)

Sound like an DB initialization is in order or deleting temp files? Thanks for any suggestions.

I forgot to add that there's plenty of free space and that this is a server that's been running fine for quite some time.

And that's about all it says. According to help, Astask could not begin the database backup. Thanks for any help you might provide.

Yes try the temp files first.
shut everything down
delete database\r*.*
bring it backup

if it still does not work then go ahead with the initilization.

I don't remember if 6.61 still came with dbmgr.exe but if it does that is an easy way to check and repair the database. Other wise just initilize.

Thanks. I didn't get to report back but I deleted every file that began with R after shutting down the engines and tht worked.
