Have an AX system version 8.0 SP3PR3
In the backup form the Voicemail Messages Check Box is greyed out (Never seen greyed out before)
I can complete a backup without(voicemail Messages)fine
If I try a scheduled backup I can select voicemail messages but the backup fails
I have stopped and Started the iPVM no help
I reset the system no help
When trying via the scheduler I get the following logs

dbBackup->Backup failed for dbName=Voicemail Database, i=3

dbBackup->Invalid voicemail backup option

Sounds like some kind of corruption?

Any Thoughts
Craig

ASSUMING 3300 AX.

The usual answer is that one of the VM ports is locked up. This can survive a reboot but that is rare. My memory is getting the better of me at the moment but I believe I used the STATE Command against the extension of a voicemail port to determine the PLID and then STATE again against the PLID but leaving out the last digit. e.g. State 1 14 28

This will show you the first 16 ports of the voicemail (maybe 24) and you will need to repeat for PLIDs of the port numbers above that.

If any are in a busy state, wait a few minutes and try again. Repeat until you've seen all ports idle or 1 or mote that are continuously busy. If you find one that is busy, you can cycle the port using the BUSY / RTS command. When using the BUSY command make sure to respond FORCE when prompted or you will regret it. You can use CANCEL or COURTESY but I don't see the point. If you do not respond, none of your future Maintenance commands will work until you do or the system is reset.

Anyway, if the BUSY / RTS cycle does not clear the port, or no ports are stuck, you have no options that I know of other than to call Mitel Support.

might be related to this ( although the below if R9 related)- perhaps there is insufficient space available on the flash card.

Symptom: AX controller running release 9.0 with 512 M Vmail flash will not back up Voicemail prompts and greetings.

Body/Solutions
On the AX controller, we recommend that Vmail partition should be on 2 G or 4 G flash drive since Rel 9.0
If your AX controller is equipped with a number of mailboxes on 512 M Vmail flash, ESM will not back up voicemail prompts and greetings. Backup for call control data is still successful.

Solution:
To back up voicemail prompts and greeting running Rel 9.0 UR1 or higher, you must upgrade the 512 M flash to a 2 G Flash or higher.

tech handbook also has this
Tip: When restoring an AX database, the voice mail messages are not
restored because they are not saved when doing a backup.

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

It is a 3300 AX and I did actually state the ports and all were idle I thought 1 4 27 and 1 4 28 to get all of the ports but I will check again.

Part of me was thinking storage but all of the hotel guest phone don't have any msgs and only about 6 of the admin phones had msgs
This comment has me wondering I don't have many AX's but will look at another that uses the embedded VM(If I have any) and see if they give me the same, Maybe you can't back up msg's on a AX
tech handbook also has this

restored because they are not saved when doing a backup.

Thanks you both

Billz66 you are correct I went onto another AX and it had the same issue. Went into the online help and under what is backed up is states the different things it backs up but also includes the following.

For the AX controller you cannot include voice mail messages in a system backup
Note: Depending on the amount of free space available on the AX Controller, messages may must be deleted to reduce the voicemail file size to this amount before attempting a backup. To determine the amount of free space available se Software > Backups and Restores > Determine whether the is enough space for a backup.
