Does anyone know how to install Legato on Sun Solaris ver. 8
Running legato 6.0.1
Client is a Solaris

I have installed the client using pkgadd –d and choosing the first 4 modules. It seems to have successfully installed but when I look at the client information details on the backup server, the “enabler in use” = no.
I have a spare license but still can’t get it to work. The backup fails with error code 9.

Any suggestions?

What do you want to install a backup client or a backup server ?

I already have a backup server backing several servers (NT, Win2000 and UNIX) I also have 2 standard free licences. I am trying to backup a solaris box and recently installed a client on it but still not working.

This is a heterogenous environment.

Assuming your NW server is running on Windows... do you have the appropriate ClientPak/UNIX enabler ?

This is where I'm getting confused. The NW server is running on Win 2000. Under Legato registration I have a clientPak/Unix/1. I have enherited this system so forgive my ignorance. I have notice that there are 4 other San Solaris servers currently being backed up successfully. I therefore deleted one of those servers, stopped and started backup server and hoped the enabler was picked up by the server I’m have difficulty with. No luck.
If I need the appropriate clientPack/Unix to backup San Solaris servers then how are the rest being backed up?

Without any further info i can only guess, why this happens.
However, you may run "nsrlic -v" on the server. The output
should already point to the facts. Then compare it with your
licenses.

BTW - to release a used license, you must not only delete the
client resource but also the client's index directory.

Hi,
The only thing you have to add is the client part of the package, maybe the manuals.

Pkgadd -d LGTOclnt (pkgadd -d LGTOman)

Add the client on the Networker Server, I suppose that you have proper licensing, eg.
Client connection, client pak Unix, start networker on the client and off you go.
