Greetings.

I am getting the message "E3511 Unable to begin database backup. (EC=-1)" Then I get a backup operation incomplete message at the end. Does anyone have an idea as to why or how I can fix this?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Chris

hiya,
Just a quick question, how big is the arcserve database your backing up? Have you tried an initialisation of the database at all?

g

Thanks for the response. The database is almost 1.3GB - probably too big for what it should be. I did try a repair and pack, but the pack part gave me a Dr Watson and wouldn't work. I have not done an initialization of the db... what does it do?

Thanks

Chris

initialise will empty the database, meaning that if you want to restore any 'old' tapes you will have to remerge them, but all new backups will be written into the database again.

hope this helps,

g

Thanks... I did that (after I made a copy of the old db) and hopefully things will be off and running again.

Thanks for you help.

Chris,

We're all on the edge of our seats....

Did the database initialization work to solve your problem ?

-John

Well the initialization worked... it removed the extremely large database. Hopefully it will get rid of the error - I will let you know Monday as the backup that was having issues is run on Friday nites.

Thanks,

Chris
