The microsoft Hotfix did it again:
I have installed MS hotFix KB829436 on our exchange 2000 server. After this installation NAV for MS Exchange 2.5 will not work anymore. When I try to start the service manualy, it starts, but within the same minute it stops again.
In the NAVMSE-log I read: "unable to autoprotect mailbox", "Service can not start since the auto-protect process could not be started" and "The service will be shutdown due to an unexpected failure initializing virus protection".

I have tried everything, from removing and reïnstalling the antivirussoft, removing the Hotfix, reaplying Exchange SP3, controlling the rights of the user running the service account. Nothing helps.

Is there somebody who knows a solution?
I need my antivirussoft again!

Hi Stoffel

You probably have solved this yourself one way or the other, but i found that the Exchange Information Store does not initialize VAPI if there is no vapi interface... or somthing like that.

Anyways, you need to:
1:Shut down all the exchange services.
2:Start NAV for Exchange service THEN
3:Start the exchange services.

At least this did it for me.

Kindly regards
