Unable to apply Drop Shadow... from Object 1

I am highlighting text and I cannot apply Drop Shadow (the feature is greyed out)
Any suggestions will be most helpful. Thanks in advance.

Make sure you are using Filter > Stylize > Drop Shadow when the text is selected. Not Effects.

Drop shadows (as you are trying to use them) affect the entire frame content. You cannot apply this drop shadow to a portion of a text frame.

Regarding drop shadow on text, how do I get to Filter > Stylize > Drop Shadow ... I cannot locate Filter.
