Though I am able to map the network drive from the samba share on the win2k machine.
When I go through the rigous of adding it to the domain, it said wrong account for user"root". I was trying to add the win2k machine to the domain as user root which is defined in /etc/samba/smbpasswd.
Also I have another smb server. Most machines are laready a part of that domain. How do I get those machines to be part of this bew samba domain now. Simplay copy the smbpasswd file.
But before that I have to have to be able to add one machine to the new domain atleast. I can add new samba users and I cna use those accounts to map drives to the win2k machine but................
Please advise ...

ok, now I can get win2k blokes to be a part of the samba domain. Problems unsolved remain,
I have another smb server. Most machines are laready a part of that domain. How do I get those machines to be part of this bew samba domain now. Simplay copy the smbpasswd file ??
For some reason that dont seem to work. I can map network drives using copied usernames, but I cant login into the samba domain with the copied usernames !! (What I mean is that instaed of having each user come and create a login again, I kinda thought I will cheat and copy the smbpasswd containing the username/password onto the other server so that those users will be able to log into the new samba domain).
Please advise ....

Could the problem be difference in samba version on the servers ??
Thanks.
