I am having a problem adding a user's email to outlook. Here is the whole story, as I am sure this will help.
I started out with an SBS2003 server. I purchased the transition pack to unlock the server so I could move all the parts to separate servers. I promoted and moved all of the active directory to a new server. I dismounted the mailbox store and backed up the files. I then demoted the old server from a domain controller. I reset the machine account in AD and reloaded server 2003 and exchange with all of the service packs using /disaster recovery. I then restored the backed up files. All seemed to work well. All existing accounts setup in outlook are working fine. However, when I try to add someone in outlook, it is stating that the exchange server is unavailable. I read somewhere online to check the recipient update service in exchange system manager, which did show the incorrect domain controller (I change that to the new server). Still no luck. It is like the active directory does not recognize the exchange server or how to contact it. Any suggestions? TIA Matthew
