Hi,

We've just re-built our server, was previously SBS 2000, now Windows 2000 Server.

All the PC's have been added back into the domain, but I'm unable to add user into the local Admin groups.

When I try, logged in as the local Admin on the PC I can see and select the user from the network, but on clicking OK I get the following error/message.

'Processng of object (User Name) failed with the follwing error:
The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.'

Strange, as I just selected the user from the domain?

Can any one help, or give me some ideas on what is going on?

Regards

Try removing one client's computers from the domain. Then rejoin FROM the client machine. If it successfully joins the domain, then you should be all set. Check adding users.

If this is the case, then its just as the error says. For some reason the clients cannot locate the domain.

What OS's are the clients?

Have installed AD on the 2000 machine to make it a domain controller?

When you moved from SBS to 2000 did you change the domain name?

Let us know the outcome of my first suggestion though.
