I got a new monitor and had trouble installing it on my Sager laptop. The computer locks up when the "updating hardware information" dialog box appears. After a few seconds when I try ctl, atl, delet I see the (not responding) notation next to the updating hardware line. I've been unplugging the monitor each time I boot the system to work around this problem. I tried adding a usb network adapter, and I've run into the same problem. I even tried to add a network protocol, and had the same problem. I can't seem to add anything to this system! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
Michael

Have you updated your virus scanner and run a scan to be safe? You might also run a spyware scan, get spybot from

Other than these options, run MSCONFIG, to to startup tab and uncheck all items, if you still cannot do it, then one or more files are probably damaged, you may have to reload os.

I've used Norton Virus scan, and Spybot to check for viruses. I haven't tried deleting items from my startup list. I'll give that a try!

Thanks for your help!
