Hi All,

Initially we had 16 gb of memory configured to a single partition. We removed 8 modules of 1gb and added 4x4gb modules. hmc is showing 24 gb memory configurable but at AIX level its still showing 16 gb ram. AIX version is 5.2 ml 05 and hmc version is 4.3.2. Please note that all the resources are added to only single partition. I have already restarted the partition and ran cfgmgr on AIX level but still showing 16 gb at AIX level. Urgent help in this issue would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance.

Paul

Did you try a DLPAR operation to dynamically give the partition the new memory?

If DLPAR is not an option, and you just changed the profile to increase the memory, then you need the deactivate and then reactivate the partition to pick up the changes. A reboot will not suffice.

However, I am pretty sure DLPAR works on AIX 5.2 LPARs so try that first (right click on partition, then select Dynamic Logical Partitioning -> Memory Resources -> Add)

Afterwards, run lsattr -El mem0 on the host to verify.

did your change the profile to allow more memory if not DLAPR will not work

shut your system down to a powered off state. turn it back on through your HMC, but select partition standby when you power it on. once the system is in a powered on state, but the partition is in standby, activate that partition.

see if that works.

I will just add something to what the guys said above.

There is an option inside the profile (I don't remember where exactly) but the options says something about use the whole resources or something! its useful in your case i beleive!

Regards,
Khalid
