Unable to add/edit data on form

I created a macro to open the main form with data mode set to read-only by mistake. Changed that to edit mode, and form works as expected when opened via macro. Using a combo box to lookup existing data works fine.

Opening the main form directly instead of using macro, causes combo box to not work, and the form appears to be in "add data" data mode. Allow edits is set to yes, allow additions is set to yes, but combo box no longer looks up records.

Not finding a reason for this; I'm sure it's something I messed up. Help?

Open the form in design view and change the Data entry property to No.
