Unable to add a new site on a new machine

We purchased a new laptop for a VP and are trying to set up the Securemote client on his machine. When we try to add a new site, it comes back with an error communicating with the site. I think something is set up incorrectly in the rules that is keeping us from being able to add the site. Anyone have any suggestions?

First check your routing from the machine. use tracerout to the required IP.
if you put up what the rules are we can have a look at them (hide any spacifc addressing or network names with false ones)
