I'm having issues viewing a website within our company network. I used to be able to view it no problem and then I came in one day and now I can't access it. No changes have been to anything on the network here as I am the admin. I can't find anything that might signify it is blocked by anything. It just pulls up a page not found - does not exist or is not available page. I'm stumped. Any help would be appreciated.

Can anyone access it or just you cant? Did you try restarting the on the host? you accessing it by dns name or ip? Is it on the same subnet as you or somewhere on the WAN?

Billsg - Yes there is a hosts file configured

Roadkill - It can't be accessed on any computer on the network. I have restarted several computers as well as the servers on the network and it still can't access it. I have tried both IP and DNS and it is an externally hosted site (Nothing to do with our network)

Can you access it from the web server itself?

Davetoo - There is no internal webserver. The site is hosted through an external company, as in a shared hosting company.

Can you access it from your house? Did you call the host to confirm they're not having a problem unrelated to your network?

Yes it can be viewed fine outside of the network.

Not blocked at the firewall or anywhere else? Checked DNS? Flushed DNS to ensure the provider hadn't changed IP's and you're still being cached?

Yeah I have done all the normal checks.

Not being blocked at firewall as no changes have been made to settings and website was able to be viewed not long ago.

DNS has been flushed and IP address has remained the same.

Checked with hosting company and their IP and DNS has remained consistant.

I'd do a ping on the name, do a nslookup on the name and the IP and see if everything agrees...if that looks good you can rules out DNS and then start looking at Firewall Access Lists / rules etc...

I'm assuming you can access other Web sites from within the network to outside the network

For some reason I can't ping that address. It comes up with request timed out. When I do a nslookup it brings up the info (name/address) for the non-authorative answer.

C:\Documents and Settings\mcordi>nslookup krypticvault.com
Server: server.sharperimpressionspainting.local
Address: 192.168.0.100

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: krypticvault.com
Address: 207.210.76.66

C:\Documents and Settings\mcordi>nslookup 207.210.76.66
Server: server.sharperimpressionspainting.local
Address: 192.168.0.100

Name: gravity.dnsprotect.com
Address: 207.210.76.66

Yeah I can access other websites just fine from inside the network as well as access this site outside of the network.
