Someone is gonna say "this post don't belong here" but there is no FTP forum in this website, I know, I checked.

Anyway, as XP's IIS 5.0 FTP server doesn't have the capabilities of multiple servers and/or multiple user names associated with their own folders on their own ports, I use 3rd party FTP server software, but the problem is nobody can access it from the internet, I already own a domain name, and setup the dns record to point to my public ip address (my on my local server works fine) then allowed ports 6021 to 6030 access through the router, then setup the 3rd party server to use port 6021, and allowed download permissions on the server, I have placed a blank, test text file in the folder for the server, if someone could test it for me and post a reply to what they see, I would be grateful, the server address is ftp://tezandbabs.us:6021

I can't test it locally as I use nat, and my wan ip address stops at the router, then from the router to the pc, it uses a LAN address, and if I enter the wan ip address in to IE, I get the router config page.

I can test it if I use the hosts file, but that isn't a true test.

The first step is always to check your connection on localhost, then using a PC on the same network. If you can't connect to the server locally, then there's no listening server.

FTP servers use different modes and authentication. Some of these require different ports (and these ports are sometimes allocated dynamically). Are you sure that all required ports are forwarded?

the domain tezandbabs.us forwards to IP 64.202.167.129. Is this correct?

I checked my router and all ports from 6021 to 6030 are being forwarded, and yes the ip address is correct, I can access it locally, from all the computers on the network.

Adding to my last post, I have 4 servers running, web, email, chat, and ftp, the ftp server has 2 sub-servers running 1 on default port 21, and the other on port 6021, neither of them can be accessed from the internet, access to the web, chat, and email servers are no problem from the internet.

Usalabs1 - coincidentally, I set up Filezilla server yesterday, on my home NAT'd network.

It worked perfectly well internally, but not externally.
I finally resolved the problem by entering my WAN's IP address into Filezilla's 'Passive mode' settings. I had tried leaving it blank, and I had tried my DNS hostname - neither worked.

Under passive mode settings, my server also has an area to restrict which ports it will use - I assume your server will too.

As it's working perfectly well internally, everything points at configuration of the server. You've forwarded ports, and port forwarding is proven to work (as it works on you web/email server ports).

Which program are you using? Someone here may have experience of it and be able to help.

I'm using Netfile ftp/web server, with the web side removed. I tries setting the passive mode to manual, wan ip address to auto detect, and allowing passive ports 6021-6030 through the router

last post addendum:-

I changed the ftp port to default 21, so now the address to try is ftp://tezandbabs.us

Your URL tezandbabs.us resolves to IP: 64.202.167.129.
serves up a frameset with the page coming from frame src
resolves to IP: 168.103.56.26.

This IP is successfully providing an FTP service on port 21 with an empty text file called 'If you see this its working.txt'

You should update your DNS entry for 'tezandbabs.us' or provide the familysite.gotdns.org URL.

manarth....

I have to use a 3rd parts dns service, even though my domain provider has the ability for me to modify the zone file, I have no idea how to use a zone file, so I use a free dns service and forward my domain name to them.
