unable add a vlan id

Hi..i'm a newbie in cisco switches.I have a 2924 switch...and when i want to add a vlan id the switch generate a message "in client-mode.no modify attempted"..
therefore i cannot add the vlan id....can anyone help me?
what should i do so i can add the vlan id?

you cannot add VLANs in client mode. This is to do with VTP (VLAN Trunking Protocol)

use the command

switch# vlan database
switch(vlan)# vtp mode server

then try again !
