I built a small payroll/time program in Access 2000, for a friend. We loaded it onto his laptop and the Database will open, but as soon a the first charachter is typed on any form, or a menu item is selected from the Access toolbars the Access crashes - leaving the idb lock-file. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening? I've tested the program on my laptop (transfering it from the same CD)and it works fine.

If the database checks out OK on another PC, then I beleive the most likely cause of the problem is a corrupted library file. Have you tried running DETECT and REPAIR from the ACCESS 2000 HELP menu? You may even need to reinstall ACCESS. Worse case, it could be an OS system file corruption.

What is the OS on the laptop in question? Is it up to date with the latest service pack installed? How about Access? Is SP2 installed? Terry
