OK, we have an access 2k database that is being used by several people. There is a switchboard with several forms for entering data.
I did not design this beast however and the person who did never finished some of the data entry screens.
SO; I have several tables that need to be modified slightly, then I need to create forms to access them.
Except that I can't touch any of the tables for modification. These are not tables that any is currently or has EVER used. Somehow they got linked though.......
My question is;
How do I UNLINK a table so that I can modify it?
There is no form attached to it, nobody is running a query on it and nobody is accessing it.
I have tried copying it and pasting it with a different name - no luck STILL linked.

Please give me SOME direction - asking everybody who has the database open is not an option as I need time to work on these tables and forms.

Thanks for any help.

PS - we are considering installing Visual SourceSafe as a version controler - will this solve the problem above?

A linked table means that it's linked to a table in a different database. Go to Tools..Database Utilities..Linked Table Manager to see where the tables are linked to. Then you can modify the tables in that database. If you don't want the tables to be linked then you'll have to import the tables instead of linking them and then you'll be able to modify the tables in your db.

Hi, Greg!

See at thread705-104346
I think there you'll find answers to your questions.
