Okay.. I think I've RTFM so many times, and these forums so many times I'm starting to lose it.

I'm trying to setup UMS with Exchange hosting the mailbox for voicemail synchronization.

I have the proper licensing, I have setup the user per the docs with the message forwarded, UMS Web Services started. I have an account in AD the voicemail is logged in as and has control over the user mailbox. I have the UMS role installed on Exchange as well.

When I leave the extension a message, it sends it to the email box but not the phone. In the email, it shows up with the ability to play it directly in the email or on the phone.(is this a feature of outlook or a feature of UMS enabled).

I am obviously not understanding some basic function of how this is supposed to work.

Sounds like the account that is running the VMP service and is logged into the MAPI provider (Outlook) doesn't have access to check the status of the message in Exchange.

Because the message doesn't truely exist in VMP any longer it is up to Outlook to obtain status of the message for VMP so that it can light the MWI on the phone.

What permissions did you assign to the UMS account for each of the Exchange mailboxes?
