I have a BCM 400 3.7 that seems to have lost its ability to open the config menu of Unified Manager. It allows me to enter the user name and password, but stalls out with in progress.... in the window. Any suggestions??

call pilot, docs, etc.. all open, configure won't.

Under the first Menu select
Maintenance
Maintemance Tools
Miscellaneous
Reset Unified Manager Server


If this doesn't work you may need to do a Hard Reboot.
 
now i can't even log into the bcm at all

what now... power cycle?

Did you wait until it finished the reset? take about 2-3 min.
 
didn't make it that far... went to try the steps you left for me, can't hit the UM at all.. no config, no call pilot,,

Sounds like you have the infamous bad CAP problem on the BFT. I have had to change about 15 BFT so far and I need another 1 for a BCM 400 i'm having a problem with. just waiting for Nortel to send it to me.
 
A hard Reboot may bring it back up for a while, but it may go down again if it is the BFT problem.

 
BFT? any info on this? First time i have seen bft. where can i find out some more info?

Is this a new 3.7 or has it been upgraded? I don't think it's a BFT issue on a new system.

You can find alot of info on this issue right in this forum, in short its a problem with leaking caps!
 
new switch, no upgrade as of yet. power cycled the switch and UM came back up. Ran the maintanance tool and it's quicker than it was...

BFT = Base Function Tray, This was a problem with BCM 1000, 200 and 400 before Rls 3.7.
