My facility is looking at going to 5 digit dialing, I have already programmed the SV8500 to accomplish this, but have no idea how to create 5 digit mail boxes, I am thinking I will have to create a new class of service, is this correct?

See if this excerpt from the manaual helps...

The mailbox number is assigned to the mailbox when the mailbox is first added to the system. This is the
number used to reference the mailbox and access the mailbox within the system. The number must be
unique and the length must match the numbering plan of the system, in the range of 2 to 10 digits. Once
the mailbox is added to the system the Number field is grayed out and no longer accessible. To change
the mailbox number you must use the Renumber option of the Mailbox menu in UM8700 Admin.

You'll have to open the "Configuration" app on the server then choose "Database" from the "Main" tab.

In the upper right corner you should see "Mailbox Length" with the number 4 entered. You'll need to change this to 5. You'll also have to stop the server in order to change this.

The manual says you will be prompted for the new leading digit. I assume it will rebuild all your mailboxes with the new leading digit.

I've never done it so I can't tell you if there are any pitfalls.

Thanks for the info....a great resource as always.
