Can anyone please advise on whether a PC Server 330 (type 8640-PB0) is capable of handling a DLT VS80 / Ultra160 configuration?

Details:
Benchmark DLT VS80 (external)
Adaptec 29160 PCI SCSI
NT 4.0 SP6a

* Successfully installed SCSI card without errors.
* Successfully installed appropriate driver without errors.
* Attached and loaded appropriate DLT drive without errors.
* Using Arcserve IT 6.51 added tape drive and attempted backup.
* Backup began with a transfer rate of < 6MB/sec (currently getting upto 100MB/sec with Adaptec 3840/DDS3 configuration)
* Confirmed with CA that Arcserve IT 6.51 was DLT compatible.

Somewhat confused I requested support from our IBM Helplan contract ..... of course they sent out a contracted guy who was not all that familiar with the hardware....and the problem remains unsolved.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated. A confirmed solution will be valued highly.

Please tell me what the exact driver version is that you are using. You should be using the ADAPTEC driver dated 3/15/2000

I am running a LTO drive on a 350 server, but it is crucial that you use this driver version for any performance on the Adaptec 29160 controller.

Let me know if this helped you...

grtz

Thanks for the tip on the driver. Driver attempting to use (ADPU160M.SYS) has creation date stamp of 8 Aug 2000 (file version 7.0.360.100).

Armed with this new knowledge I will make another attempt when I return from holidays in 2 weeks. I will post my results then.

Thanks again for your advice.
