Hi everyone,

I'm currently trying to set-up UltraVNC (It's a remote access program) but the instructions on the website of how to set-up the program are very vague and as of yet despite numerous variations of settings etc I have had no luck in getting it working.

Any help at all would be GREATLy appreciated :)

Thanks in advance

Paul

Are you trying to view a remote computer using the viewer, or are you trying to set up a VNC server?

If the former, there's no 'setup' as such - you unzip and run.

Hope this helps,
Dan

Hi Dan,

The way i gathered from the very poor instructions on the website was that the viewer was on my computer and I needed to send the server to the computer that I was trying to remotely access. It could be very possible that I'm wrong lol

I'm trying to set-up both a server and a viewer

Well its the whole package I'm having trouble with, including the viewer if you could help me with even setting it up? It would be half the battle I suppose

Like I said... I just downloaded the ZIP, unzipped, and ran 'vncviewer.exe' - there was no setup required whatsoever, so I've not been through the process to be able to help.

Perhaps asking in a non-browser forum would be a better idea, as it's not a browser-related question?

Hope this helps,
Dan

I presume that you are following the installation instructions here:
Basically, for the Server, just make sure every dialog looks exactly like it is does on that page except the 'Select Components' dialog, where you want to make sure that UltraVNCViewer is unticked, and also leave the Location textboxes empty for both the "Select ACL File" and "Select Registry settings" are left blank.

And you're done as far as basic server installation is concerned. An UltraVNC icon should appear in the system tray; right-click it, and select "Admin Properties" from the menu where you can set up the authentication that you want to use (and fine tune a few other parts of uVNC's operation)

Thanks, I've got it nearly set-up now, only thing is that it wont let me change the VNC authentication password which is very annoying, any ideas?

Hi again everyone,

one last question (I HOPE). I have now got the VNC configured but I only seem to be able to connect to our server here in the office as all the computers are returning the same public IP address, I hope someone can help

Thanks in advance

Why keep asking in this forum? This forum is for browser-related issues.

Why not ask in one of the relevant Windows forums (e.g. XP, Vista, etc)?
