Ultra Fast Head cleaning?

I have just bought an Imation travan head cleaning cartridge. When i insert into the drive seagate STT3401A, the drive LED flashes and it ejects after about 15 seconds. I am not able to initiate a clean using back up exec 10d. Whilst the tape is mounted i can here the mechanism move, but this lasts about 2 seconds.

I am not sure if my tape drive has been cleaned, can anyone advise?

That's normal. The abrasive should only be in contact with the heads for a few seconds to avoid excessive wear.
