First, the case says it is an M2, but the sockets say 940. I read from the manual that the M2 uses Socket F. However, this is beside the point.
I think either the CMOS chip is bad or something is loose. Here is what happens. I turn it on (or just plug it in). The cooling system starts up. Until I started moving the RAM sticks around, this was all that would happen. When I started moving the sticks around, it started shutting down after less than two minutes.
At one point I forgot to reinstall the upright cooling stack next to the HDD. I was able to hear the HDD spinning, so the parts are talking to each other. They are just not speaking to me in turn.
