i picked up a sun ultra 10 awhile ago and im trying to get it working again, nothing seems to be wrong with the hardware aside form the nvram which im in the process of fixing, but even after a fresh install of sol 10 it still refuses to boot and immediately goes to network errors, i will not be connecting it to the internet till i get the os working, so what do i have to do to get it to boot normally?

At the open boot PROM "ok" prompt, a couple environment variables need to be set. Do a "printenv" and look for "boot-device" and "auto-boot?". They should be set to "disk" and "yes". Sounds like you have "boot-device" set to "net" if you are starting out getting network errors.

These commands should get you started...

Code:
ok setenv boot-device disk
ok setenv auto-boot? true
ok reset

Don't type the "ok", that's the prompt. [bigsmile]

You might also need to set the boot device if it's not pointing to the correct drive.

also while im at it, how do i tell what the original adressing stuff is supposed to be, the nvram battery is dead and im usign a workaround till i get the parts too make it permanent
edit: so its trying to boot from drive now, but its doing a boot loop, some kind of error about not finding a file, fix one issue...
