Not strictly Solaris but.... I have a Sparc Ultra10 system with 5.8 loaded. I try to power-up the machine and it goes through memory check OK, recognizes the fact that it's being booted with a Solaris 5.8 system then it sits there for a about 10 seconds, flashes a VERY quick little dump screen and begins the boot process all over again. I've tried swapping keyboards, pulling the network connection but never get beyond this point. Is there any way to force this box to boot off its CD??? Does this sound like my hardware crapped out? Machine used to work, it was a firewall until about 3 months ago. To my knowledge no problems during its life as a firewall. Any advise greatly appreciated.

You should be able to use Stop-A to interrupt the boot sequence and drop to the 'ok' prompt. Then type boot cdrom. Annihilannic.

And Thank You. Forgot about the A. Still have "hit L1-A" to get the prompt form my early sun days. OS re-installing as I write.
