ULIMIT problems after 4.3.3 to 5.2 upgrade

Hi,

I discovered that after my migration from 4.3.3 to 5.2 (ML02), my maestro user (TIVOLI) who had a previoulsy defined ulimit of -1 (unlimited) reverted back to the default of 1 Gb even though /etc/security/limits still had an entry of -1 for him.

Has anybody else suffered from ulimit problems after a migration AIX 5L?

Does "ulimit -a" show 1 Gb for maestro, or are you getting a ulimit error in a process?

With maestro's /etc/security/limits stanza still set to unlimited, it might be that the owner of some other process maestro talks to is actually the one with the 1 Gb limit.

Worth a look, at least.

Thanks for the response.
We were getting a ulimit error in a process but I have now reset this user to -1 and all is ok.

I have discovered in the bosinstlog some messages that are probably related but weren't spotted during the migration.

grep: 0652-033 Cannot open login.cfg.
nofiles = 2000
* nofiles - soft file descriptor limit
* nofiles_hard - hard file descriptor limit
RunDiagnostics:

The login.cfg file does exist and there's nothing peculiar about it. I've checked on 3 other server migrations and this message has appeared on every one but as there are no "unlimited" users defined on them, it hasn't shown up as a problem before.
