I changed ulimit (aix 5.3.6) to 'unlimited'.
Does it require reboot to take it in effect?

thx much

for a user not - just re-login.

but for any running application you want this new limit settings and which was started before you did the change, you need to restart the application in new shell with new limits.

But, the odd thing is the ulimit goes back to the original if I re-logi...

Why would it be?

Changes with ulimit are only visible in the current session, so no logout/login or you'll have to change again.

Changes with chuser (or smit chuser) will be visible on next login.
