Has anyone use UK2.Net dedicated servers?
What are your experiences?

Can you recommend any other companies that provide managed server solutions with root access?

I should add that I'm looking for a UK based company with UK based servers

I think the performance of UK2 servers are ok but sometimes their pricing structure is a bit misleading and is done yearly rather than monthly.

Chris, there were no prices on the Talking Internet site.
What sort of prices are you paying if you don't mind me asking?

I'm basically after a dedicated box that I have shell access to and the ability to install/update software as needed.

For example, I have recently been working on something using ImageMagick and Ghostscript and could do with updating the versions on the current server - but I can't as it's a shared box.

TheLad - why do you say that the UK2 pricing structure is misleading? Paying annually is no problem as we do that now anyway.

Someone asked this recently on LinkedIn:

only answer so far is:

I've no idea whether these are any good or not though.

I use godaddy's dedicated servers in the US for my personal stuff, and my company hosts it's own datacentres and uses specialist co-location providers so can't recommend anyone in the uk I'm afraid.

The reason I say UK2 are a bit misleading is because they advertise everything by the price per month, but they do not offer payment by price per month but instead charge an annual cost. I was thinking more of my personal experiences as I have several domains via UK2 and I would have bought webspace from them if they did truly offer a pay month price.
